ARCHOS introduces two new large screen Android-based tablets, the ARCHOS 7 and the ARCHOS 8 Home Tablets. The ARCHOS Home Tablet range bridges the gap between the Smartphone and the Desktop PC to provide always-on access to the web, customization through Android Apps, and multi-media content, all in a large-screen format. The ARCHOS Home Tablets are based on an ARM 9 processor @ 600 MHz .
The slim line ARCHOS 7 Tablet sports a 7’’ touch screen and a slim form factor at only 12 mm thick and weighing around 350 g (0.8Ib). With built-in Wi-Fi, it can be connected to a home network, while the built in USB connection makes transferring files from a PC, digital camera or other digital devices simple. The ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet will be available in 2 GB and 8 GB at a recommended price of £129.99 and £149.99 from April 2010.
With its large 8’’ touch screen, the ARCHOS 8 Home Tablet is idle for web browsing, web services and video content. The ARCHOS 8 Home Tablet is also perfect for displaying family pictures through the digital photo frame application and it is just 12 mm in thickness and weighing around 400 g (0.9 Ib). The ARCHOS 8 Home Tablet will be available in 4 GB at a recommended price of £129.99 from May 2010.
ARCHOS is also to launch Internet Tablets, based on an ARM Cortex up to 1 GHz, in the summer 2010 offering a richer set of features with screen sizes from 3” to 10”.
