Fujitsu’s Eco Keyboard

Fujitsu, Eco, Keyboard

Fujitsu introduces the keyboard made from renewable materials using injection molding technology – saving CO2 emissions by moving away from plastic components. The new keyboard replaces 45 percent of plastic components with materials from renewable sources, promoting sustainable production and reducing reliance on oil.

Rajat Kakar, Vice President Clients Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “Fujitsu has been at the forefront of innovating Green IT for years; the eco keyboard is Fujitsu’s latest innovation which shows that it is possible to create durable, eco-friendly products without extra cost. By offering a quality eco keyboard at the same price as a plastic keyboard, Fujitsu makes it easy for people to make the right choice for the environment.”

Although almost indistinguishable from a keyboard made from plastic – and equally resistant to liquid spills – two major parts of the Fujitsu KBPC PX ECO keyboard are made from 100 percent biodegradable materials. The palm-rest is constructed from ARBOFORM®, which is based on lignin, a by-product of the pulp industry, mixed with natural fibers and additives. And the keyboard base is made entirely from BIOGRADE®, a form of cellulose acetate. Underlining its green credentials, the keyboard’s USB cable is also PVC-free.
