You can run a program by number of ways by clicking the icon in the desktop or by choosing it from menu or clicking the file you wanted to modify or execute by using a specified program or by clicking program or entering the program name in the run command.
When an icon of the program appears in the desktop double click the icon
Click the Start menu which contains mail and internet at the top of left side below it various other programs which you use often right hand side contains My Computer(Runs windows explorer), MY Documents, My Music, My Pictures, and other includes control panel, Help and support, Run, Search. Other installed programs in your computer can be found at All Programs. All Programs is found at left bottom by clicking it you can see other programs. Usually when you move the mouse pointer over the Program menu sub menu appears.
Programs are stored in files, usually with the filename extension .exe, .com etc.
You can run the program that can open a particular file, you can click or double click on the file name in the explore window (MY Computer press windows + E if your key board as windows key) generally all files will be represented with different file extensions .jpeg for picture files, .doc represents word etc. By double clicking the file you can open the file with the respective program
In some case windows will not be able to choose the right program for your file and will ask use web service to find appropriate program or select a program from a list. First option seeks help through web browser and search for file type and the program to open
Second option will allow user to select the program installed in your computer.
You can use short cut keys. Right click on the short cut icon and choose properties in the dialog box click on shortcut and enter the letter or symbol or number. It will be always combination of CTRL + ALT + letter or symbol or number (which you choose)
From run dialog box (windows key + r or start menu and click run) enter the program name and press enter or click ok.
From command prompt (in run dialog box enter cmd or go to start – all programs – accessories – Command prompt) type the program name and press enter looks similar to DOS.
From Start menu you could select he program by clicking on menu or submenu the shortcuts here will be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs.
